Working Days Calculator

Calculate working days, public holidays, and shortened workdays for any period.

Results are informational. Calculation is based on your input and public rules, official accounting may differ. For accuracy, confirm the final result if needed from the appropriate official source or specialist.

How it works?

This calculator counts working days, public holidays, and shortened workdays for a selected country and period. A working day is any Monday–Friday that is not a public holiday. Shortened workdays are working days that precede a public holiday (e.g. in Estonia, the law mandates a 3-hour reduction).

Holiday data comes from the Nager.Date public holiday database, updated annually.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a working day?
A working day is any Monday through Friday that is not a public holiday. Saturdays and Sundays are weekends and are not counted as working days.
What is a shortened workday?
In Estonia, the working day before a public holiday is legally shortened by 3 hours. For example, the day before Midsummer Day (June 24) is 3 hours shorter than a normal working day.
Why don’t some public holidays reduce the working day count?
If a public holiday falls on a weekend (Saturday or Sunday), it does not reduce the working day count, since those days would not be working days regardless.
