Gardening by the Moon

A sowing calendar by the Moon: root, leaf, fruit and flower days for the next month, when to sow crops above ground and when root vegetables.

How the days are chosen

With a waxing Moon sow and plant what crops above ground: lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes, beans and flowers. With a waning Moon sow root vegetables, weed, prune and pick a harvest to store. The type of day comes from the Moon's sign and tells which part of the plant the day helps most. The day of a new or full moon is a rest day.

Four types of day

Root day: Potatoes, carrots, beetroot, onions and garlic. Good for working the soil too.
Leaf day: Lettuce, cabbage, spinach and herbs. Good for mowing and watering too.
Fruit day: Tomatoes, cucumbers, pumpkins, beans, berries and fruit trees.
Flower day: Flowers, bulbs and flowering shrubs. Good for picking cut flowers too.
