How to read the moon calendar

With a waxing Moon (from new to full) everything grows faster: a time to start, to sow plants that crop above ground and to cut your hair if you want it to grow. With a waning Moon (from full to new) it is better to finish, clean up, weed, prune and sow root vegetables.

The Moon moves into the next sign every two or three days. The sign's element sets the type of day: earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) give a root day, water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) a leaf day, fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) a fruit day and air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) a flower day.

The day of a new or full moon is a rest day: no sowing and no haircuts. The times are Estonian time.

The Moon's sign is worked out in the same zodiac as our horoscope. The Thun sowing calendar counts the constellations in the sky, so some days' type may differ from it by a day or two.
