How it works?

The Swiss QR-bill is the payment slip of Switzerland and Liechtenstein. It replaced the old orange and red payment slips in 2022. At the bottom of the bill is a 210 × 105 mm section: on the left the receipt the payer keeps, on the right the payment part with the QR code. The payer scans the code with a banking app and the payment is filled in.

This calculator builds the QR code data and the slip to the SIX Swiss Implementation Guidelines for the QR-bill (version 2.3). It already follows the rule that version 2.4 adds from 14 November 2026: QR-IBAN and QR reference in francs only. The account must be Swiss or Liechtenstein (CH or LI). A QR-IBAN needs a 27-digit QR reference, an ordinary IBAN takes an RF reference or none. Enter an invoice number and the calculator makes the right reference from it.

The data goes to our server to make the bill and is not stored. You can have the payee details remembered on your device.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Swiss QR-bill?

The Swiss QR-bill (QR-Rechnung in German, QR-facture in French) is the payment method of Switzerland and Liechtenstein. At the bottom of the bill are a payment part with a QR code and a receipt for the payer. The QR code holds the payee's account and address, the amount, the reference and the payer's details, so the payer types nothing by hand. Since 1 October 2022 it has replaced the old payment slips.

What is the difference between a QR-IBAN and an ordinary IBAN?

A QR-IBAN is a separate account number your bank gives you for QR-bills: its 5th to 9th characters are between 30000 and 31999. A QR-IBAN always needs a 27-digit QR reference (QRR). With an ordinary IBAN you can use an RF reference (SCOR, ISO 11649) or no reference. The calculator recognises which reference the account needs and turns your invoice number into a QR or RF reference.

Can a QR-bill be in euros?

Yes, but only with an ordinary IBAN and an RF reference or no reference. Version 2.4 of the SIX guidelines, valid from 14 November 2026, allows the QR-IBAN and the QR reference in francs (CHF) only. The calculator follows that rule already, so a bill made now stays valid after that date.

How do I print a QR-bill?

Print the PDF at 100 % size, without "fit to page", on white paper. On the A4 page the QR-bill section sits at the bottom and the cut lines carry scissors. On paper the section must be detachable: cut along the lines or use perforated paper. Nothing may be printed on the back. A PDF sent by e-mail works too, the payer then scans the code from the screen.

Is the data I enter stored?

No. To make the bill, the data goes to our server, which turns it into the QR code and the PDF and then forgets it. It does not end up in logs or in the page address. If you tick "Remember payee on this device", the payee details are kept only in your browser.

Why is there a Swiss cross in the middle of the QR code?

The cross marks the code as a QR-bill. The SIX guidelines require it at 7 × 7 mm in the centre of the code. Banking apps read the code despite the cross, because the code is made with error correction (level M).

How do I turn an invoice number into an RF reference?

Enter the invoice number in the reference field. Hyphens and spaces are removed, and with an ordinary IBAN it becomes an RF reference (up to 21 letters and digits). To check a reference first or make many at once, use the RF reference calculator.
