What it means

Mercury is the planet of communication, thinking and travel. When it is retrograde, astrologers say, things get mixed up more easily: a message reaches the wrong person, an agreement is left half done and technology acts up.

That is why the advice for these weeks is not to rush new contracts or big purchases. Read a text again before you send it, check the dates and leave a little extra time for a trip.

It is a good time to go back to old things: unfinished work, an unanswered message, someone you have not talked to in a long time. This time suits repeating and fixing better than starting.

What retrograde motion is

Retrograde motion is apparent. The Earth overtakes the planet, or the planet the Earth, and for a few weeks the planet seems to move backwards against the stars. The planet itself keeps moving forward.

How it is calculated

A retrograde period starts and ends on the day the planet's motion in the sky stops and turns. The planet hardly moves then and the time of the stop is uncertain, so only the dates in Estonian time are shown.
